B&J Machinery Company celebrated 63 years in business in March 2016. The Dalton firm was founded in March of 1953 by James T. "Jake" Cobble and his cousin J.A. "Buddy" Cobble, in Fort Oglethorpe, GA. Shortly after the company was formed, it was relocated to Dalton and operated at a Gordon Street location for several years before moving to the 60,000 square foot York Street facility the firm still occupies today.
B&J has invested heavily in new equipment and technology over the years and has one of the best equipped and most modern machinery facilities in the area. Computerized equipment is utilized in most areas of the manufacturing process, starting from the design of parts through their completion. Many of the machines now built by B&J also use sophisticated electronics to control their operation.
The Dalton firm has been a leader in the design and manufacture of many types of parts and equipment for textile and other industries.
B&J's most common products include but are not limited to:
Over the years the company has also expanded into carpet wrapping systems, machinery for the processing of carpet tiles, food-processing machinery, paint rollers and mop manufacturing machinery and concrete grinding equipment. B&J products are used on every continent in the world excluding Antarctica. Current customers can be found in the U.S., Canada, China, France, South Africa, Israel, Ireland, Mexico, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, and Brazil.
"Very few companies have been able to keep pace with the changes in equipment and technology that have taken place over the last 60+ years. Fortunately we have been able to maintain our business and customer base by adapting to these changes, and continuing to offer quality machinery at reasonable prices for all these years," states Dan Cobble, company President. Dan Cobble is the third generation of his family to serve as an owner and officer of the company. "All of the employees of B&J are proud that we have had a part in the dynamic growth of the Dalton area and the Textile Industry over the past 60 years and look forward to many more!"
